In recent months a certain buzz word going around. Racism! Firstly the Newspaper, Television and Radio have been filled to the brim with reports and opinions on this racism saga. So as a small time footballer, a huge football fan and a person that is classed as mixed race I feel I’m entitled to my opinion.
Firstly let’s clear up what racism is; Prejudice or discrimination directed against someone of a different race based on such a belief, a belief or guideline that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to rule others. However my view on any type of racism is all about jealousy, and mob mentality. Seriously how many people would go up to someone that looks mixed race and hurl racist splur in their face?
The last few months have been filled with completely different incidences on and off the pitch, in game and during the warm up. Initially let talk about a certain Liverpool player, just to say I’m an utd fan however this doesn’t make my views bais toward Mr Evra, i think the way this was handled was a embrassment to football. To be honest why drag it out over two months, I say nip in the bud and stop it being so exposed. Secondly so called “King Kenny”, in all his footballing experience and he allows his players to pull a stupid and insensitive stunt like allowing his players to wear these t-shirts. There’s two people in this story i feel for and that is Mr Johnson and Mr Evra.
Firstly Mr Johnson, how must he feel, a supect racist and hes ment to support him. I know I certainly would wear that t-shirt. Just so everyone knows im not saying he was forced to wear it however just think about how he felt doing it. Let not forget Mr Evra, if someone commits a crime towards you and then internationally strut around like you was in the wrong, not fair and how demoralising. I also feel that the racist claim involving the current England captain, first of all should be stripped of his captaincies quicker than he can say sorry for this reason, how does a fellow team mate that is black talk to him if he want to talk about anything, due to this being his role as captain, must be hard and seeing that the last game he started the squad had at least 6 black players in the changing room. This must add to an already tense dressing room.
There’s no room in football for racist! Kick it in to touch!
